AMERICAN SYSTEMS is a world class leader in the development of technologically advanced trainer systems. AMERICAN SYSTEMS’ recently delivered the F/A-18 Simulated Aircraft Maintenance Trainer (SAMT) to the F/A-18C maintenance training community at NAS Oceana, Virginia, and at NAS Lemoore, California. The SAMT is a state-of-the-art maintenance trainer that simulates the Avionics and Electrical, Fuel/Engines, Flight Control/Hydraulic and Armament Systems of the F/A-18C aircraft. The SAMT comprises two 61” plasma touch screens, a high fidelity cockpit, and an instructor-operator station. The touch screens provide a virtual cockpit and a virtual, 3-D aircraft maintenance environment for student interaction. Using a physics-based simulation of aircraft systems, students execute approximately 500 maintenance tasks and troubleshoot instructor-induced failures and malfunctions.
