Full-time employees of AMERICAN SYSTEMS are eligible for our comprehensive benefits package to ensure they receive the work-life support they need in and out of the office.  Our benefits package includes the following:

Medical Insurance
Our medical plan provides two Blue Cross & Blue Shield Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) coverage options. (The San Diego, California, area option is the Kaiser HMO.) TRICARE Supplement coverage also is available. Enrollment in a non-AMERICAN SYSTEMS health plan is partially subsidized on an after-tax basis. Coverage begins on date of hire.

Dental Insurance
Employees have a choice of managed care (DMO) or preferred provider network (PPO) coverage. Orthodontia coverage for children and adults also is provided.

Vision Plan
Coverage for eye examinations and eyewear materials (lenses and frames, contact lenses) is provided through both network and non-network providers.

Section 125 Plan
Employees may contribute to a flexible spending account (FSA) for the tax-free reimbursement of out-of-pocket medical and dependent care expenses.

Life and AD&D Insurance
Life insurance and AD&D coverage amount will depend on your job position and salary. Employees also may purchase supplemental coverage through AMERICAN SYSTEMS.

Short and Long-Term Disability
STD provides salary continuation equal to 60 percent of pay up to a weekly maximum for as many as 11 weeks if you are unable to work for ten consecutive days because of a non-work related illness or injury. LTD provides salary continuation equal to 60 percent of pay up to a monthly maximum if you have been unable to work for 90 consecutive days because of a non-work related illness or injury. Employees who do not enroll within 30 days of hire must complete a medical questionnaire. Employer-provided workers' compensation insurance provides coverage for work-related injuries.

401(k) Plan
The 401(k) plan offers an employer match and a full range of investment options. Employees are immediately eligible to participate in the plan and may contribute up to the maximum amount permitted by IRS rules.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The employer-paid Employee Assistance Program provides all employees and their family members with confidential assessment, referral, resources, and crisis intervention to help resolve issues such as personal well being, parenting and childcare, eldercare, financial problems, and legal concerns.

The ESOP provides employees with a stock ownership interest in AMERICAN SYSTEMS, thereby allowing employees to share in its growth and profitability.

Scholarship Program
Full-time employees are eligible to apply for financial assistance to complete undergraduate and graduate courses in fields of study consistent with company goals. Employees may receive up to $3,900 per calendar year in scholarship assistance.

Leave
Employees manage their vacation and sick leave through a Paid Time Off (PTO) program. Your PTO leave accrual rate will depend on your position and your length of service with the company.

College Savings Plan
Employees can invest funds for educational expenses through direct deposit in a Section 529 College Savings Plan with Alliance Capital. Under current law, fund earnings accumulate tax-free and are not subject to tax when withdrawn.
